New music, the project behind it, and the pen he lends to other artists.

THE PROJECT
His current project — a run of songs written about her: the muses, the heartbreaks, the ones who got away and the ones who stayed. New content from the project is rolling out now, one story at a time. Start with "Super Hero," then catch the rest live — the songs hit different in the room.
THE PEN
Steph doesn't just sing his own stories — he's a songwriter for hire, building hooks and full records for other voices. In a recent studio session writing for artist Patrice.Live, he was handed a 10-minute hook-writing challenge — and delivered before the clock ran out. He's a voting member of the Recording Academy, with work entered in the 69th Grammy Awards process, and runs his own house: Are & Be Entertainment, LLC. Need a hook? Need a whole song? The pen is open for business.
"I'm not the hero they drew. / I'm the one who shows up — / and I won't hurt you like they did before."
"Super Hero" is Steph in one song: painted nails, punk-rock emo edges — rooted in mystery and Black culture. Just a man who learned that showing up, honestly, is the most heroic thing a person can do.

"The older I get, the more I realize this journey was never about staying young — it was about staying true."
Stephan Gillis — Sing Steph — is a DMV singer-songwriter with a voice built for R&B and a style all his own: painted nails, leopard berets, leather covered in pins. Punk-rock emo on the surface, mystery underneath, Black culture at the root. November 2026 has him on eight stages across DC, Maryland, and Virginia — from a jazz and wine tasting in Baltimore to a three-day run at Busboys and Poets in Columbia — often alongside Marcus Johnson. Between his own shows, he's in the studio writing for other artists. More confident, more intentional, more honest, more free — that's the season he's in, and Songs About Her is the soundtrack.
